Kyanjin Gompa (3870m)

There are local old old Buddhist monasteries and a small local cheese factory in the Kyanjin village/Kyanjing gompa. It’s one of the best Himalayan hygienic Yak Cheeses available around the Langtang area. There one can learn about the socio-economic life of the locals. Interacting with the local community and taking photos of their children are the best part to make the trek more memorable. Kyanjin Gompa is the last tea house place in short Langtang Trek and the place would be excellent to explore the beauty of hidden nature.

Langtang National Park (Buffer Zone)

Besides, the Langtang National Park conserves rare animals and plants that also can be explored through the Langtang Valley Trek. The Langtang National Park was established in 1976, has an area of 1710 sq km, and consisting a buffer zone area of 420 sq km. You will witness a variety of flora and fauna. Local people have good hospitality and conduct. Regarding accommodation, in the Langtang region, the accommodation is ordinary and has twin-sharing beds. Each tea house has a warm dinning hall and cozy rooms as well. Along the trail somewhere you will get a bathroom inside the room but are not allowed to shower inside. Throughout peak season you must the accommodation a week before.

A Engrossing Tamang culture and Festival

Around the Langtang Region, more than 80% of people are from Tamang. They have a brilliant tradition, and unique culture including a distinct language, cultural dress, script, ethnic instrument, and social manners. They have over 120 sub-clans in the Tamang caste. Approximately more than 80% of the Tamang have been flowing the Buddhist. Their language, Tamang, comes from the Tamangic branch of the Tibeto-Burman language family and it is 75% similar to Gurung Language.

Damphu and Cello are the identities of the Tamang people. Tamang Cello songs represent humor, satire, joy, and sorrow. It has a brisk movement and rhythmic beat specific to the Tamangs. Sonam Lhochhar is the major festival of the Tamangs and is celebrated in the month of Magh (February–March). It is celebrated to welcome the Tamang New Year.

Sacred Gosainkunda Lakes (4,380 Metres)

Another reason that people Trek to the Langtang region is due to the holy Gosainkunda Lake. The lake on the top of the hill often gets frozen in winter. Many trekkers have fancy skating in the lake which is awesome. That’s the most attractive part of the Langtang region. There are altogether 108 (ponds) lakes around the area but Saraswati Kunda, Bhairab Kunda, Surya Kunda, Naga Kunda, and Gosainkunda lakes are the most fascinating and popular too.

The place offers to see the world’s 14th highest peak Mt Shishapangma 8027 m and an unbelievable outlook. A day hike to Tserku Ri is quite an arduous walk than previous days because should climb up almost 1100 m from Kyanjin Gompa.

Low Altitude and Short Treks in Langtang Region

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1395 m) with transfer to the hotel - 25 m

Nepal High Trek airport representative will receive you at the Tribhuwan International Airport. Our representative will hold a plaque card at the arrival section and receive you cordially. You will be transferred to hotel in Kathmandu as discussed during trip booking process. The agency will complete all the trekking formalities and introduce you to your trekking guide. You can do last minute shopping in Thamel if you want before the start of the trip. Overnight at Hotel

Day 02: Drive to Syabrubesi by local sharing jeep 1,530 m - (122km/6/7 hours)

Early in the morning after breakfast, we will either take a taxi to Machhapokhari or take a sharing jeep directly to Syaprubeshi. If we are using local bus then you can get bus ticket in Machhapokhari. The road trip is joyous as you will traverse through terraced farmlands and towns. The condition of road is both nice and bumpy. Total distance between Kathmandu and Syaprubeshi is about 122 kilometers. On this day, we will have to get our permit to enter Langtang National Park. Nearby Dhunche Nepal Army will check our permit and we will have to register our entry. Once you have reached Syapurbeshi we will check into the lodge. In the evening, you can stroll around the town. This is the town nearby border of China. Therefore, you can see lots of container trucks moving to and from China with lots of goods. Enjoy the walk on the bank of river or within the town center. This small town is good to understand the value of tourism in Nepal. Overnight at lodge

Day 03: Trek from Syafrubensi to Lama Hotel 2,450 m – (11km/6/7 hours)

The trekking starts today as we head to Lama Hotel. The trail is nice and cozy. We will trek through terraced farmlands and hamlets by listening to the raging sound of Langtang Lirung River all the way up to Lama Hotel. This place has few tea houses and in the middle of green lush forests. The atmosphere will help you to collect tranquil forest vibes memory. Moreover, you feel blessed as this is the first day of our trek and your body will answer you promptly as you will not feel any kinds of tiredness. Overnight at tea house.

Day 04: Trek From Lama Hotel to Langtang Village 3,430 m - (14/km/ 7/8 hours)

Today is the most remarkable day of our trekking. We will be trekking through green lush forests and bamboo forests. If we are lucky, we can spot highly endangered species of red pandas nearby Ghoda Tabela. The trail is full of chortens and prayer flags. Once we reach the Langtang Village, you can stroll around and observe the place. In 2015, entire village was washed out due to earthquake and Langtang Lirung Avalanche. Therefore, this is the new village. You will be amazed to know the stories of people of Langtang. These people are truly magnificent and intrepid. They overcame all the hurdles and rose again. The most affected region due to 2015 earthquake is Langtang Valley Village but now they are fully able to host trekkers. This shows the great tenacity and perseverance of Tamang people of the region. Day 05: Trek from Langtang village to Kyanjin Gompa 3,830 m – (9.5km/ 3/4 hours)

Early in the morning after breakfast we will begin our trekking. Our trekking guide will conduct a small PT session to avoid cramps during the trek. On this day, we will walk on trail through lots of small hamlets and terraced farmlands crossing several streams. We can reach Kyanjin in lunch hours. Therefore, we can get enough time to explore the village of Kyanjin. There is 7th century old monastery called Kyanjin Gompa which you can visit and get blessings. The place is situated in the foothill of Kyanjin Ri and offers splendid scenery of Mt. Langtang Lirung. You can stroll around the village and immerse into the local culture. Overnight at tea house

Day 06: Optional Hike to Tserkuri Viewpoint (4984m) - (7.5km/5/6 Hrs) Explore the Langtang Himalayas with Tibetan Himalayas Ranges

You can choose to do the Kyanjin Ri hike on this day or you can do day hike to Tserko Ri (4984 m). Hike to Tserko Ri is daunting but it is equally rewarding in terms of mountain vista. This is the optional hike that you can do while spending a day in Kyanjin Gompa. If not, you can do the gentle hike of Kyanjin Ri. The 360 degree view of mountain will definitely enthrall your trekking experiences. In comparison to two beautiful viewpoint the Tserkuri would be beautiful and worth. Also quite difficult with the strenuous uphill to Tserkuri viewpoint. You can see the world's 14th tallest peak Mt Shisapagma (8027m) with stunning Langtang Himalayas if the weather gets clear.

Day 07: Trek from Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel 2,450 m – (15km/ 7/8 hours)

We will retrace the same trail back to Lama Hotel. You will be amazed that the return trip is much more pleasing than the ascent time. It is because the altitude decreases and you will be fully acclimatized on this day. Relish the chance to traverse through Langtang village. The return trip from Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel is the best time to spot red panda than while going to Langtang village from Lama Hotel. While returning you must not be complacent as you may suffer from cramps as we will have to walk for more than 6 hours excluding lunch breaks. Overnight at tea house

Day 08: Trek from Lama hotel to Syabrubensi - (11km/5/6 hours)

We will retrace the same trail back to Syaprubeshi. Today is the last day of the trekking. Therefore, in the evening you can host the small success party with the trekking crew members. Some of the local crew members will bid farewell today. Therefore, this evening is right time to distribute tips and gratuities to your trekking crew members. Tipping is not compulsory in Nepal but it is expected and has become a normal routine. Therefore, plan your tipping amount before the trek. Overnight at lodge

Day 09: Drive to Kathmandu by local sharing jeep or Bus and transfer to hotel – (122km/ 07 hours)

We will either take a private jeep or use a local bus to go back to Kathmandu. The journey is about 122 kilometers long and it is scenic. In the evening, Nepal High Trek officials will host a farewell dinner in a Nepalese cultural restaurant. Overnight at Hotel

Day 10: Final departure to homeward bound or to respective destinations.

Last day in the land of Himalayan wonders, as per our airport representative will take you to Tribhuvan International Airport and bid farewell by promising to meet for the next trip.
